Frequently Asked Questions
How fast can you respond to a hazardous tree in Toronto?
We target a 2-hour response window across the GTA, available 24/7 including weekends and statutory holidays. For trees actively contacting power lines, always call 911 and Toronto Hydro (416-542-8000) first; we coordinate with Toronto Hydro before approaching energised lines.
How much does emergency tree removal cost in Toronto?
Emergency work costs more than scheduled removal because of after-hours crews, expedited dispatch and higher-risk rigging when a tree is partially down. Typical tree removal ranges are: small trees (under 30 ft) $300–$500 CAD, medium (30–50 ft) $500–$900 CAD, large (50–70 ft) $900–$1,800 CAD, very large (70 ft+) $1,800–$3,500+ CAD. Your written quote is free and itemised, and any emergency premium is shown on it. Insurance often covers removal when a storm-felled tree struck a structure; we provide itemised invoices for claims.
Will my homeowners insurance cover storm tree damage?
Most Ontario homeowners policies cover removal of trees that have struck a structure (house, garage, fence) but not removal of trees that fell harmlessly into a yard. We provide arborist reports and itemised invoices for insurance claim packages. Adjusters typically require photos before any removal — call us before touching the tree.
Do you handle trees that fell on power lines?
No homeowner or arborist should approach a tree on a live line. Call 911 and Toronto Hydro (416-542-8000) immediately. Once hydro has made the line safe, our crew removes the tree using specialised rigging, sectional felling and utility-coordination protocols.
Can you remove a leaning or split tree before it falls?
Yes, and we recommend it. A leaning tree with visible root-plate lift, a vertical trunk crack or a major branch failure is treated as an imminent-failure risk and prioritised. Our ISA-certified arborists assess the hazard on site.
Do hazardous tree removals require a Toronto permit?
Any tree with a trunk diameter of 30 cm or greater normally requires a permit under Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 813, and fines for unpermitted removal range from $500 to $100,000 per tree. For an imminent hazard, contact Toronto Urban Forestry (311) — we provide the arborist supporting letter and documentation the City needs.
What does storm cleanup include beyond the tree itself?
All debris is hauled off-site at no extra charge, and firewood sections are available on request. Stump grinding is a separate service: $150–$250 CAD added at removal time, or $200–$400 CAD as a standalone booking.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency tree service?
Yes. Emergency response is available 24/7, including weekends and statutory holidays, with a 2-hour target response window across the GTA. Call 647-558-1366.
